The Sicilian Miniature Donkey
The miniature donkey is native to the Mediterranean islands of Sicily and
Sardinia. They were used mainly as working animals. Today, they are nearly
extinct in their native homeland.
One of the largest original breeders
in the US was August Busch. August, as well as a few others, imported
these animals into the US. The original registry in the US was established
in 1958 by Danby Farms in Nebraska.
Life Span: 25-40 years
Height: 36" and under
Weight: 200-450 lbs.
