The Food: Pasta
Carbonara
This was most likely named for the Italian immigrants
that came to this country who did not make a lot of money but who put in
long, hard days in the coal mines. The fresh cracked black pepper is
what gives this dish its name (carbonara = carbon/coal).
INGREDIENTS
Olive Oil
Bacon or Pancetta
Black Pepper
Egg (Optional)
Pasta of your Choice (long, thin pastas like spaghetti or linquine work
best)
Heat just a drop of olive oil in a sauce pan and
add your pancetta or bacon and sautee. Cook your pasta according to
the package directions.
